Obstetric emergencies and COVID-19

How to manage obstetric emergencies (in this case, postpartum haemorrhage) in a woman with suspected or confirmed COVID-19. This video was produced in conjunction with THIS Institute, and was enabled by their research platform, Thiscovery. Over 100 participants with expertise in maternity care, infection prevention and control, and human factors took part in the rapid-response consultation exercise used in developing this video.

PROMPT's story

As a result of the positive findings of the SaFE Study and also the associated outcome improvements at Southmead Hospital, the PROMPT (PRactical Obstetric Multi-Professional Training) Train-The-Trainers package was developed by a dedicated group of health care professionals based in maternity units in the South West of England, UK. The package was designed to be used locally and to improve outcomes for mothers and their babies.
