Train the trainer/PROMPT Trainer Questions Expand Question Answer Do we have to attend a T3 before we can deliver PROMPT training in our unit? b b b b b b b If you have purchased the PMF Annual Update 2021, then you will have all the information, tools and materials to localise and deliver PROMPT training within your unit. This includes instructional videos and ‘top tips’, along with guidance in each module booklet on how to set up, run and debrief. In addition to this, our new Annual Update package for 2022/23 will include our new PROMPT Implementation (iPROMPT) module to allow you to implement PROMPT authentically within your own unit. Ultimately the decision of who can deliver your PROMPT training within your trust lies within your local governance processes. We’ve got a new member of our faculty; do they need to attend a T3 to deliver PROMPT training? b b b The short answer is no. The resources provided in the Annual Update packages and iPROMPT should provide enough guidance for a new member of your team to be able to deliver training, but essentially the governance around who can deliver training in your unit is decided by your trust and local teams. If I attend a T3/complete the iPROMPT, am I PROMPT instructor and can I take PROMPT to another unit/deliver private courses? b b b b The PROMPT Annual Update packages are purchased by the Trusts for use to train their staff only within that trust. So essentially the resources ‘belong’ to that trust. Therefore, if you were to go to another Trust/country you can only deliver PROMPT training there if they have also purchased the resources. The ethos of PROMPT for staff to train within their own units, with their own teams also means that it cannot be sold as a private course.
International Questions Expand Question Answer How is PROMPT training implemented internationally? b b b b b b b b b b b b PROMPT training has already been implemented in many countries around the world, in a variety of settings. PROMPT has the potential to benefit many more mothers and babies on a global scale and PMF are keen to support further international training opportunities. Background: Until recently, most international PROMPT training has been implemented by individual maternity teams who have attended a T3 day run by PMF faculty either in London, or their own country. This package has allowed teams to run training in their own unit. From 2023 we will be launching our NEW PROMPT Global package. The PROMPT Global package contains training resources incorporating the latest evidence and UK National guidance including an emphasis on multi-professional team working, human factors, civility and other recommendations in line with the Ockenden and Kirkup reports. The package includes: For more information on this new package, please visit this page. As experience in the implementation of PROMPT training grows, some teams wish to consider acting as trainers themselves in order to roll out PROMPT training to other units in their region. PMF are very keen to support these ventures in order to increase dissemination of PROMPT training, however, we are equally committed to ensuring that quality of training is maintained and the impact of PROMPT is maximised. For further information about implementing PROMPT within your country, please contact us at [email protected] Which groups would be considered for an international PROMPT licence? b b b b b b b b In general, we have found that teams that are experienced in implementing PROMPT in their own unit are best placed to support training on a wider scale. Local dissemination of PROMPT training requires commitment to provide high-quality, cost-effective training for other units on a large scale. Groups wishing to take on this challenge should be able to demonstrate the necessary experience, financial and logistical backing that is required to support the venture. Most teams that have previously obtained licenses for local PROMPT training have been affiliated with national professional bodies (e.g. RCOG, RANZCOG) or respected academic institutions. This type of local endorsement of PROMPT undoubtedly improves the reach of training. What additional training materials are required for PROMPT in international settings? b b b b b When PROMPT training is distributed on a regional/national scale the comprehensive training package materials and resources will require localisation to reflect national guidelines, e.g. drug names and doses, appropriate to the area. This may also include translation of materials into other languages. This process requires considerable time and resource and is usually undertaken by the local collaborators, although a legal agreement must be drawn up between all parties including PMF and our publishers, Cambridge University Press.
Additonal Questions Expand Question Answer I’ve attended PROMPT at my local trust but cannot locate my certificate, please can you send me one? b b b b For verification of attendance and a replacement for your certificate you will need to contact the Practice Development Midwife/trainers at your local trust who issued the original certificate. The PROMPT Maternity Foundation does not issue local PROMPT training certificates – these are governed by the NHS Trust where the training took place. Which training videos can I access? b b b Please visit here for more information. Additional videos and training resources are available with the Annual Update and Pre-Hospital PROMPT training packages Does the PMF have a specific scenario for ….? b All the scenarios that we provide as part of our materials can be adapted to meet your local requirements. How do I know if my maternity unit that I work in runs local PROMPT training?b b You need to contact your Practice Development Midwife/education team to ask if PROMPT training is run locally in your unit and request to register to attend a local training day. If I leave my maternity unit, can I take PROMPT training with me?b b b b The licence to use PROMPT training materials remains with the maternity unit/hospital who funded the multi-professional team to attend the PROMPT T3 Course or has purchased the Annual Update package. Individuals cannot take the materials, resources etc to use in another unit/hospital.

Is the PROMPT manual going to be updated? b The Annual Update packages are our new model for updating the resources. Updated information can be found in the Supplementary Reading booklet and associated modules included in each package.
Annual Update Questions Expand Question Answer One of the most common questions that we receive, is asking about how the PROMPT system now works with the Annual Update packages in comparison to the previous course in the box and Train the trainers/T3. b b b b b b b b b b b b b b b b b b b b b Our model previously was for a multi-professional team of four from a maternity unit to attend a T3 face-to-face. Once they had attended, they received their ‘course in a box’ to take back to their units and disseminate this to their teams. Over the years this has now evolved, and in response to feedback and practical needs during the pandemic, we now have our Annual Update packages which include information to guide your teams through the physical and digital resources, so that you can deliver the training within your units, without the need to attend a T3 first. The second Annual Update package (2022/23) includes our new PROMPT Implementation package (iPROMPT), which like a T3 from previous years, provides an opportunity to get your team together to familiarise yourselves with the resources and plan your training day. The bonus of this is that you can have as many of your team present as you would like and is available to re-visit or when you have new members join your team. We also appreciate that due to many changes and restrictions over the last few years, you may have team members who may never have delivered training face to face. Using this iPROMPT and the resources within the Annual Update package should provide the information and tools to be able to do this. You can find out about the Annual Update packages (2021 and 2022/23) and how to purchase this for your unit here: https://www.promptmaternity.org/prompt-annual-update-2021 https://www.promptmaternity.org/prompt-2nd-annual-update-package-2022 What is in the Annual Update packages and does this provide all of the materials that we need to meet our Maternity Incentive Scheme requirements? b b b b b b b b b b b b b b b b b b b b b b b b b b b b b b b b b b b b b b The Annual Update packages contain new and updated information on the following subjects: Annual Update 2021 Summary of new national reports and recommendations 6 new/updated modules New: Impacted Fetal Head Postpartum Haemorrhage Shoulder Dystocia Severe Hypertension & Eclampsia Maternal Sepsis Vaginal Breech Presentations – narrated by the PROMPT team and also non-narrated presentations that can be localised for each module Facilitator scenario module booklets for each module PROMPT CiPP – Care of the Critically Ill Pregnant or Postpartum woman - including Covid-19 Additional presentations and subjects: Maternal cardiac disease Fetal monitoring update Personalised care: communication to parents in an emergency Immediate care of the newborn (recognition of the deteriorating infant) Pre-Hospital PROMPT module for paramedic and ambulance staff based on JRCALC guidance to train with your paramedic colleagues Example programme template for Trusts to use Annual Update 2022/23 Summary of new national reports and recommendations with an emphasis on multi-professional teamworking, human factors, civility and health inequalities 5 new/updated modules: Antepartum Haemorrhage Cord Prolapse Anaesthetic Emergencies – Local anaesthetic systemic toxicity (LAST), Failed intubation & High regional block (including total spinal) Maternal Collapse & Cardiac Arrest Uterine Rupture NEW: Community PROMPT – for midwife-led teams to run local emergency training in community settings. This replaces the previously run PROMPT Train the Trainers (T3) programme and provides a half-day interactive pre-recorded programme of videos and presentations from the PROMPT core team. This can be used by your multi-professional training team to watch and learn together how to plan and authentically implement local PROMPT training in your trust. These components can be used for your annual programme, which over three years would comply with many of your core competencies. If I buy the Annual Update, can I sell courses myself? b b b b b No, currently we sell the packages to maternity units/hospitals only, not individuals or private companies. The licence to use the PROMPT training materials remains with the maternity unit/hospital who funded the package. The ethos of PROMPT for staff to train within their own units, with their own teams also means that it cannot be sold as a private course.
